Literature: A Life Changer

Image
When we talk about literature first question arise in our mind that what is literature? When our first day started in the Dept. at that time same question asked by Dr. Dilip Barad Sir at that time so many answers given by students. Everyone has different perspectives to see things. That’s why if we asked individually then answer is different. Literature word cannot include some particular things but its covers majority of the things. Generally we think that literature represents emotions, feelings, ideas, thoughts, critical thinking, arguments, etc. Literature is the mirror of society. It reflects the reflection of society. But literature is beyond those things. I study so many poems, novels, short stories, criticism and plays during my journey of five years of literature. If we talk about any particular poem or novel it gives some kind of preaching message. Literature parted into two perspectives first is individual and second is perspective of society.  In liter...

Novel: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Image
Here I discussed some of the points of the novel Harry Potter. (1) Feministic reading of Hermione’s character in Harry Potter (2) Self-Help culture and Harry Potter (3) Theme of Love and Death in Harry Potter Let’s have a look on it. 1. Feministic reading of Hermione’s character in Harry Potter :   When we look towards woman character they are portrays as inferior, silent, always followers of their father, brother or husband. It is the image or grey shade of girl or a woman. But in literature writer always portray women as a different way. It means some individual point we can find to prove her character like brave, intelligent and fighting for circumstances. In Harry Potter also character of Hermione is very brave, intelligent, and logical and more speak able. In Hogwarts School when any professor asked questions at that time she always knows the answers and tried to replied it very well. She has also different abilities like she knows every magical trick and...

Novel: The White Tiger

Image
Here are my views about the novel, (1) Generally when we think about India one great image pops up in our mind. In the novel ‘The White Tiger’ Aravind Adiga puts opposite image of India means darker side of India but it the real. Globalization, religion, idea of God Hanuman as a servant, corruption, prostitution, murder, crime, poverty, politics, situation of village, life of city these all things shown by Aravind Adiga. River Ganga also negatively portrayed in the novel. So, it is the representation of India in the novel.  (2) Yes, I believe that Balram’s story is the archetype of all stories of ‘rags to riches’. Because Balram himself narrated his situation and then slowly and steadily he reaches at the top level and murders his master Ashok. In this world everyone crave for more money or more facilities. But main concern of the life is whether the person chooses a right path for reaches this higher level or not. But Balram believes that he has to climb this s...

Novel: One Night @ the Call Center

Image
Here are my views about the novel ON@TCC by Chetan Bhagat. (1) Mennipean satire: How can we say that ON@TCC as a mennipean satire? If we read the novel we can find it. In the novel most powerful character is Bakshi, the boss. He is boss of American company and he do service in the call centre. But he always treated Vroom, Shyam, Radhika, Priyanka, Esha and Military Uncle as scapegoat. He always behaves as a very cruel way. Bossism presented by Bakshi through authoritative way. He believes in hierarchical way that his status is very higher than the other six characters. Second point is call from God in the novel that generally people believed that in this world there is no presence of God because we don’t see God anywhere, it is the reality of everyone’s life. But here in the novel why Chetan Bhagat puts this idea? Because the six characters are very near to the death and realize that our life is very unhappy to cover up with so many problems. So, some solution is necessary th...

Whose narrative is convincing to the contemporary young mind? Answer: In ‘Genesis’ (The Bible), ‘The Paradise Lost’ (John Milton) and ‘The Da Vinci Code’ (Dan Brown) three of book presents religion as the centre.  In Genesis book also God is the center. Paradise Lost also presents power of God and fall of man at the center. In comparison of these two books The Da Vinci Code is more complicated narration and presents so many things together. In this book, cryptic code, Story of Jesus Christ, his relation with Mary Magdalene, Painting of Mona Lisa, Painting of Last Supper, Holy Grail, Blood line of Sophie Neveu and Sarcophagus at the  center . This book presents so many secrets in the story. Dan Brown’s narrative technique is so difficult to understand the whole idea in comparison to Genesis and The...
