Second Teaching Method of B.Ed: Bridge Lesson

Bridge Lesson

Generally, we think that process of teaching is very easy. But it covers so many things and step by step we have to follow it. In video games there are levels to win the game. Same type of levels we can see in B.Ed. First step of teaching is Micro-teaching and second step is Bridge-lesson.

Bridge lesson it means all the skills are jointed. It is one type of pool or one type of chains. One chain connected with another chain and it’s make long bridge. Ratio of students is 15 to 17 and 15 to 20 minutes trainee-teacher has to teach. It is one type of practice so within the students we have to do it. According to “Lesson-Plan” (Paath-Ayojan) we have to teach. If such thing not included in it it’s not necessary because all the things we can’t write on it. Space of Lesson-Plan is very narrow.

In 15 minutes all the skills are used by the teacher. One main important thing is that first turn always comes with Motivation Skill. Because it is the duty of teacher that on one particular direction thoughts of all the students reached. Then Questioning or Illustration skill used by the trainee-teacher and then based on these two skills Reinforcement Skill used.

To teach students we can use drawings, images, audio, etc... If we have facility of laptop then we can show them videos also. We can sing song also.

When Bridge-Lesson going on at that time in one paragraph if new words come then trainee-teacher asked students to answer it and if they can’t do then trainee-teacher write these words on Black Board. Important points also note down by teacher on Black Board.

My Experience of Bridge-Lesson:

(1)          English: Std-9th, Unit 10- ‘Ecology for Peace’
Date: 29th-07-2016

Ø Objectives: The trainee-teacher co-ordinates this following skills.
·      Motivation Skill: S1
·      Black Board Work Skill: S2
·      Questioning Skill: S3
·      Reinforcement Skill: S4
·      Illustration Skill: S5

Bridge-lesson directly we have to not teach to school but it is one type of practice that’s why this lesson we have to give in class-room of college.

v Activity of Trainee-teacher:

(1) Motivation
(2)Statement of Aim
(3) Presentation
(4) Black Board Work (New words, IMP points)

I used for motivation one drawing because my point is related to ecology.

(2)        Sanskrit : Std-10th, Unit 5- ‘Gunvati Kanya’
Date: 2nd-08-2016

For motivation here I used one line of daughter.
“Deekro tare ek kul,
  Deekri be kul tare.”

Here this line shows importance of daughter. Because daughter has so many good “Samskara” like, pity, compassion, obedient, handle any difficult situation, etc… Though sons are good but they quickly show anger and can’t understand situation. That’ why these lines are perfect for this Sanskrit lesson.

(3)        Sanskrit : Std-9th, Poem 6- ‘Sarva Charutaram Vasante’
Date: 3rd-08-2016

For motivation I used this song related to autumn in Gujarati and I recited also it.

“Kesoodani kalie besi
      Faganiyo laherayo,
E aavyo Faganiyo
     Roodo Faganiyo…”

Here we can see importance of season autumn. Poem also about autumn that’s why I selected these lines.

(4)       English: Std-10th, Poem 4- ‘Growing’
Date: 4th-08-2016

For motivation I sing one Hindi song about birds. Lines are like these…. Panchhi bani udke phiru mast gagan me…. Then I asked questions related to it and got answers also. Same like these birds in poem also poet wants to fly and to slay (over come) battles.

Whole lecture of English (15 to 20 minutes) I used no words of Gujarati. All the students understand poem very well. I gave examples of brave and talented children like, Chandragupta Maurya, Shivaji, Son of Dushyanta- Bharata, Vardhman- Mahavir Swami, etc…

So, finally we reached our goal. Now we have to teach in Primary School No. 5. Let’s see what’s happens…. I wish all is well……..
