Saat Pagla Aakashma

          Saat Pagla Aakaskma is a novel written by Kundanika Kapadia. In this novel central character is Vasudha. Beginning to end there is a Vasudha’s journey of life, and she generalize the whole life of woman. Vasudha get married with Vyomesh and their marriage life beguns. But slowly and steadily Vyomesh is not interested in Vasudha and always busy with his work, and he always expects Vasudha to complete all works in right time. So there is no hope, desire and dreams for Vasudha but Vyomesh alwas live in his own life. Vasudha sacrificies her whole life for his husband and they have children also, one is Ashesh and the other one is Harsh. Their childhood to maturity Vasudha take all the responsibilies and then Ashesh and Harsh get married. Their wivws are also good. Then Vasudha is tired of her life and think to get retirement. She leaves her home, and join in Anandgram, it is pushpvatika near by sea. Many characters like Isha, Swarup, Saleema, Krushan, Aaditya, Vinod, Agnivesh, Gagnendra lived in Anandgram. Here, Vasudha fight for so many people , who can’t get their rights. Sometimes they spend with one another and finally they leave Anandgram and here the story ends.

In this book Kundanika Kapadia presents common life of woman. Many questions raised by Vasudha also and then she tried to solve it.

·        Why women have to suffer in society?

·        Why women have to leave parents’ home?

·        Why always all “Sanskars” taught to only girl?

·        Why some work divided by society that women should have to do this and men should have to do this?

·        Why women always treated as inferior as compare to men?

          Literature always presents mirror of society. Here also this effect shown by Kundanika Kapadiya. From the very beginning some rules and regulations imposed by society for girls. Parents also expect from girl that you should behave only this way. But situation is vice versa that for boys not so much rules for living a life.

What I learnt from this book?

I am not against any society or gender but this is our harsh reality of life. I believe that some ideas of society are good for girls or women. But through these rules and regulations girls and women can’t express her ideas. Main aspect of society is “Freedom”. Every person has their own thoughts and ideas to express themselves. So always follow the ideas of society are not good for individual person because everyone has free fate of will.
