Teaching Method: Micro Teaching

Shree Radheshyam B.Ed College Mahuva

I started my new journey with B.Ed and I got first admission in Radheshyam B.Ed College, Mahuva. From the very childhood we learn that how to learn that but it is the stage when we can learn how to teach. So many things included in it because teacher has to understand thoughts of the students. Every student comes from different atmosphere, class and family. Because of this reason we have to learn that how to reached one point when every student concentrates.

First step of B.Ed is Micro Teaching. This method is given by Dwight W. Allean (Psychologist) in 1960. In India it was started in 1970 and in Gujarat it was started in 1972, M.S. University Vadodara. Five to seven minutes trainee-teacher has to give any of the five skills and number of the learners is very few like five or seven.

For teachers there are some skills to develop their ability and these are as per below:

1. Motivation Skill ( Vishayabhimukh Kaushalya)
2.Questioning Skill(Prashna-Pravahita Kaushalya)
3. Illustration Skill (Udaharan Skill)
4.Black Board Work Skill ( Shyam Falak Kaushalya)
5.Reinforcement Skill(Sudradhikaran Kaushalya)

These four skills are most important for B.Ed students. Because through these skills we have to made Paath- Ayojan (lesson). So, let’s discuss these skills one by one.

(1)           Motivation Skill: In this skill, first we have to present some song, drama, any example, lecture, story, role play, use of audio-video mediums, etc…. and then we have to connect these with title of the unit or poem it is called Motivation. This skill is very hard because first we have to follow originality. Without originality students cannot reach one point so to reach one particular point we learn this skill. One more important point is that we have to connect our story or other things with title and it is called connection of dots.

When in Sanskrit Dr. Shailesh Pathak Sir told me that you have to connect your ideas with title of the unit at that time I really miss idea of Dr. Dilip Barad Sir (HOD of Department of English). Because he always told that only learning new things is not important but you have to connect the dots.

(2)          Questioning Skill:  In this skill teacher has to ask only questions related to unit. First teacher read one paragraph and then without use of text he/she asks questions to students. And students give appropriate and full answer. To motivate students teacher has to give appreciation. So, students can improve their confidence.

(3)          Illustration Skill: In this skill teacher give examples related to particular point. Some rules also teacher has to follow like: It is interested or not, it is related to the point or not, It is presented through speech or without speech, What is the aptitude of teacher.

(4)          Black Board Work Skill: In this skill teacher write some paragraph. We can say that it is very easy but in this skill also so many things are hidden and I have experience also. First teacher observe atmosphere of classroom and then observe black board. Then he/she completely rub black board. Main things are like are these: Can this word readable or not, Space of each and every words, whether writing go to straight line or not, Points are short and simple or not. Use of Color chalk, Points related to designs is small or big, etc….

(5)          Reinforcement Skill: In this skill he role teacher is to give appreciation to students. When students give answers then teacher speak some words like, well done, nice answer, very good answer, excellent, bravo, etc… And if answer is not completed then teacher add that you can add more things also.

Here also system like, Department of English that we have to observe other students performance. In B.Ed it is called 'Nirikshan Patrak' (Observation form). Students can improve their faults and next time they can’t repeat it. Here are some images of it.
