Poem: Ode on Solitude

“Ode on Solitude” was written by Alexander Pope, when he was twelve years old. Here poet wants to live alone means in solitude. First he says that these men are happy who have paternal acres, which lived in his native through his breathe. Those who have his own land and ground who are happy. Then he talks about season like summer because in this season man can sit and rest below the trees. In the winter season people get relief to the fire. Then he turns to days, hours and years, to pass softly and it creates health of body and peace of mind. These all things are for the general human beings. He shared his experience of living a life presented through this poem. ‘Ode on Solitude’ means all alone he wants to live a life. He wants to sound sleep by night, wants to study and ease together mixed creates sweet recreation. His solitude leads toward innocence and meditation. According to Pope only meditation is one thing that concentrates in solitude. He wants to live life but unseen and unknown. Then he talks about death bur he want unlamented death. When person died at that time one tomb-stone built by family members. But at the last line poet says that,

“Steal from the world, and not a stone
Tell where I live.”

This line conveys the meaning of whole life of the poet. He don’t want famous person that’s why he says that even not stone reveals my secret of life to tell the people that where he live.
